Hawaiian Stilt
Ae`o or Hawaiian Stilt (family, Recurvirostridae).
A graceful and svelte North American bird, the Hawaiian Stilt now finds itself an endangered species. Their beautiful coat has them all dressed up and looking dapper, like their distant cousins the Penguin. Black upper coat and downy white belly and a long, slender black bill compliment their spindly, pink legs. Being a waterbird, salt water fish are a welcomed and favorite treat. But shallow water fish, insects and vegetation will do fine. Just be careful when scoping them out along a shoreline to leave their brood alone...these birdies will do whatever it takes to defend their nest.
Material: Steel wire, wood board and wall hook.
